Vadodara: With the immersion of Ganesha idols set to begin from today, the city police have issued a notification prohibiting the movement and use of DJ music system vehicles in the vicinity of artificial lakes designated for immersion. Ganesha pandal organisers have been warned against bringing DJ vehicles close to the lakes and playing loud music in specified areas.The decision comes after repeated complaints about loud music, crowding and disorder around the immersion points in the past few years. Police officials said that the devotees often continued dancing to DJ beats near the lakes, resulting in delays in the immersion process and creating traffic and crowd-management problems.This year, 11 artificial lakes have been prepared at different locations across the city for the immersion of thousands of Ganesha idols. Immersion will take place on the fifth, seventh and final day of the festival when large crowds are expected to converge.The police have planned additional security arrangements around all the artificial lakes to ensure that the immersion process remains peaceful and no untoward incident is reported. Cops said they will also maintain a close watch on history-sheeters and troublemakers during the festival, particularly at sensitive locations and during peak immersion hours.CCTV cameras will be installed near the artificial lakes to monitor crowd movement and activities in real time. “We will try to ensure that the immersions don’t extend till late in the night,” the police added.
