Kolkata: Sealdah division of Eastern Railway conducted a coordination meeting with the state police, Kolkata Traffic Police and GRP on Saturday on crowd management and security arrangement during puja.They reviewed passenger entry and exit plans, holding areas, platform segregation and deployment of cops, said a senior cop. About 270 retired servicemen would be engaged to boost security measures. Extra volunteers would be deployed on foot overbridges and level-crossing gates. The parking area outside Sealdah station would remain closed from Oct 15 to Oct 21 (Panchami to Dashami).A railway official said subways would be kept clear. “We have also urged cops to remove vendors from subway entry point, during the puja days,” he added. Puja guide maps will be installed outside the station and subway, said Rajeev Saxena, DRM Sealdah division. Signage will be installed to help revellers navigate the station premises.
