Nagpur: Calling the upcoming graduates’ constituency polls ‘a battle of prestige’, Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday urged party workers to work hard to ensure victory for BJP. Gadkari has been campaigning for party candidate Sudhakar Kohale, daily visiting the six assembly constituencies in the city.On Thursday, Gadkari urged BJP workers in North Nagpur to convince graduates who do not back the party and make sure they reach the polling booth. “We lost the last election in which 12,000 votes were invalid. It played a major role in our defeat. Work hard and ensure we win this time,” Gadkari said. The Union minister urged party workers to knock on the doors of each voter. “This is not an election where you play drums and put up posters. Connecting with each voter is a must. Whoever is not going to vote for us, note their names, go to their houses, inform them about the work done by govt and convince them to vote for us,” Gadkari said.“We are the first city in the country to segregate garbage and make 28 tonnes of bio-CNG a day. We also sell treated toilet water to Koradi and Khaparkheda and get Rs300 crore a year. Nagpur Metro carries 3 lakh people every day. Inform the voters about these development works,” Gadkari told party workers. The city MP said he had sanctioned three roads in North Nagpur under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund to link them to Ring Road. Also, Rs1,600 crore has been granted by National Highways Authority of India to build service roads, he said.
