Gurgaon: A 30-year-old labourer was killed when a dispute with his contractor over Rs 500 escalated into a violent attack in Gandhi Colony, Faridabad, on Sunday night. The accused first struck the labourer, Sagar(30), on his head with a beer bottle and then attacked him in the neck with the glass shard.The injured man was taken to ESIC Hospital by his family, where he was declared dead. The accused, Virendra alias Kalu, was arrested by a team from New Industrial Township (NIT) police post.According to police, Sagar had gone to collect wages from Kalu at a liquor vend near the NIT railway station on Sunday. An argument broke out between the two when Sagar asked for arrears to be paid. Kalu allegedly picked up a glass bottle and attacked Sagar. He died of the injuries.Sagar’s father, Ompal, had filed a complaint against the contractor at NIT police station. “Police have arrested Kalu and are questioning him. The accused will be produced before the court on Tuesday,” Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said. Sagar’s body has been shifted to a hospital mortuary for postmortem.
