Amravati: A police constable from the Quick Response Team (QRT) of the Amravati police died after allegedly shooting himself in the commissioner’s office with his service pistol on Thursday morning.The deceased, Vijay Diliprao Nagapure (32), was a 2014-batch constable serving in the QRT for the past four years. He was on duty on Wednesday night and was supposed to hand over his weapon and finish shift. However, he stayed back in the office. He allegedly shot himself around 9.15-9.30am after which his colleagues found him in a pool of blood, said sources.Commissioner of police Rakesh Ola and other senior officials rushed to the scene and ordered an impartial probe into the circumstances behind his action.Nagapure was unmarried and lived with his family in Priya Park area of Amravati. The police have registered an accidental death case. Nagapure’s mobile phone is being examined for clues.In his last conversation with his brother just before the incident, Nagapure mentioned filling up petrol before heading home, said sources.
