Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Thursday led the CM CONNECT Block-Level community interaction programme at Rongara in South Garo Hills, bringing residents, elected representatives and officials together to address concerns related to essential services, infrastructure and livelihoods.Sangma also inaugurated the new annex building of the Rongara Community and Rural Development Block Office before attending the interaction at the Rongara M.E. School playground.“I rate CM Connect as my most important programme among all the programmes I do. CM Connect is at the heart of governance and at the heart of democracy. It is one of the most important programmes we can have as a democratic nation because it brings democracy and governance together and ensures that development reaches the last mile,” he said.He said the initiative was designed to create direct engagement between citizens and the government, adding that regular interaction was essential to understanding and resolving local problems.Residents raised issues related to drinking water, electricity, roads, education and public infrastructure. Prokaston N. Sangma of Lower Nekora sought drinking water facilities, a matriculation examination centre and a retaining wall. Officials said the restoration DPR was ready, the examination-centre proposal could proceed through the prescribed process and the retaining-wall estimate had been submitted.Bibosing Ch. Sangma of Dulsingre A sought additional electricity poles and an RCC bridge. MePDCL said surveys covering 40 households had been completed under RDSS and work would begin shortly.Emush R. Sangma of Naweram Asim raised the need for a Jal Jeevan Mission connection, while Bokseng Sangma of Kujolgiri highlighted the poor condition of the local LP school. Departments assured action on both issues.The government said CM CONNECT had recorded more than 1.15 lakh citizen connects and 6,593 grievances, of which 4,401 had been resolved. Feedback satisfaction stood at 96.45%.
