Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress Monday announced a statewide campaign to strengthen its grassroots organisation and step up its attack on BJP-led govts at both the Centre and the state. The campaign, titled ‘Sangathan Badhao, Loktantra Bachao’ (Strengthen Organisation, Save Democracy), will be launched on April 1.Announcing this at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters, party’s state president Govind Singh Dotasra said the month-long campaign would mobilise workers and raise public awareness on key issues. He also highlighted concerns over shortage of cooking gas, stating that the party will organise a state-level protest at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur on March 27. He further criticised the Narendra Modi govt, alleging that its foreign policy had failed. As part of the organisational revamp, Dotasra said, new gram panchayat presidents will be appointed by the PCC and the process to appoint ward presidents for all urban local bodies had already begun. Dotasra accused the state govt of deliberately delaying elections to urban local bodies and panchayati raj institutions due to fear of defeat. He alleged that formation of OBC Commission was intentionally delayed and the govt had not yet provided it with adequate resources to complete its work.“The state govt does not want the OBC Commission’s report and is using it as an excuse to postpone elections,” Dotasra said.Dotasra also said that he, along with Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, will tour districts across the state, beginning with Beawar and Balotra on April 2 and 3.
