Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress on Saturday accused the AAP govt of making a U-turn on the rollout of the Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB G RAMG) scheme.Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring questioned why the govt implemented the scheme despite the assembly unanimously rejecting it during a special session on Dec 30, 2025. He pointed out that the govt issued a notification on Friday to roll out the scheme, reversing its earlier stand. He also raised questions over the timing of the decision, linking it to the ongoing political pressure on chief minister Bhagwant Mann. “Is the CM trying to buy peace with the BJP?” he asked.Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa termed the move contradictory, saying the govt was “running with the hare and hunting with the hounds”. He questioned what had changed between Dec 30 and now, and whether the earlier assembly session was merely “political theatre.”Former deputy chief minister and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also sought clarity, asking what prompted the govt to implement a scheme it had earlier termed against Punjab’s interests, and demanded an explanation for the apparent U-turn.
