Vadodara: A Congress candidate from Ward 9 sought repolling in Ward 11, where she lives, after discovering that her vote had been cast before she reached the polling booth. She was later allowed to cast a tendered vote.Meena Vasava, who is contesting on a Congress ticket from Ward 9 and lives in Ward 11, went to vote on Sunday at her designated polling booth at DR Amin School in Diwalipura. Vasava said she polling officials told her that her vote had already been cast. After she objected and convinced the officials, she was permitted to record a tendered vote on ballot paper. Congress city unit president Rutvij Joshi rushed to the polling booth and jointly submitted a formal complaint along with Vasava. Joshi demanded a repoll in the ward, alleging serious irregularities in the voting process. On Monday, Joshi further claimed that several voters’ names were duplicated in the electoral rolls, an issue he said surfaced after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
