Jaipur: The Rajasthan Congress Wednesday accused Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma-led govt of large-scale corruption in the supply of nutritional food at anganwadi centres across the state. The leaders alleged that the quality of food provided to children and pregnant women is extremely poor.Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully referred to remarks allegedly made by BJP MLA Pratap Singh Bheel during a review meeting in Udaipur, where he reportedly said that the nutritional supplements supplied at anganwadi centres in his constituency were of such poor quality that “even animals cannot eat it.”In a post on X, Gehlot questioned the functioning of the BJP govt. “What is happening in Rajasthan’s BJP govt? Even MLAs from the ruling party itself are exposing the truth behind the govt’s claims,” Gehlot wrote.Referring to the alleged remarks, the former CM said, “BJP MLA Pratap Gameti from Gogunda saying that ‘even animals wouldn’t eat the nutritional supplements for anganwadi’ is extremely disturbing.”Gehlot further said that poor-quality nutrition supply in tribal areas was unacceptable and accused the government of compromising the health of children and pregnant women.“On one hand, there are massive delays in implementation of schemes, and on the other hand, corruption in food meant for innocent children,” he said. “Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari has been shown a mirror by her own people.”Sources said attempts were made to contact BJP MLA Pratap Singh Bheel for clarification on the issue, but he was reportedly asked not to respond to media queries regarding the matter.
