Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLC Balmoori Venkat on Sunday alleged that BRS MLA T Harish Rao was attempting to mislead and instigate residents of an apartment complex against the Musi rejuvenation project. They also claimed that the previous BRS govt had granted permissions for the construction of various apartments in violation of regulations.Kiran Kumar Reddy claimed that the construction of the Madhu Park Ridge apartment violated buffer zone regulations. “It is mandatory to have a 30-metre buffer zone as per the govt orders but only a 9-metre buffer zone was given. The previous govt had issued many such permissions in violation of rules,” he said.He further alleged that Harish was trying to shift the blame onto the current govt. The Congress MP dismissed the allegations and accused Harish of spreading falsehoods about the govt daily for political survival, claiming that the BRS had been rejected by voters in every election since Dec 2023.The Congress MP noted that many apartment residents were suffering due to the actions of the previous BRS govt and that people had bought apartments unknowingly. “It is not their fault. But this is the pro-poor and pro-people Congress govt. The state will provide compensation to the displaced residents. I will also urge the govt to take legal action against the builders and officials responsible for the violations,” he said.He added that chief minister A Revanth Reddy was committed to transforming Hyderabad into a world-class city by completing projects such as Metro rail expansion, the Musi rejuvenation, the regional ring road, skyways, and Bharat Future City.Congress MLC Balmoori Venkat alleged that Harish had forcibly displaced residents of 14 villages for the construction of the Mallanna Sagar project, and that many residents had died, unable to bear the displacement without proper rehabilitation.Venkat further claimed that the BRS did not want the Musi project to be completed, as it would ensure that the CM’s name was recorded in the history of landmark projects in the city. He also referenced former CM KCR’s promise to transform Hussainsagar water to the quality of tender coconut water, alleging that BRS leaders had siphoned off thousands of crores in the name of the Musi project while in govt.
