Nagpur: Congress national spokesperson Alok Sharma on Saturday demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged donation scam involving the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya, alleging the trustees were being shielded from accountability.Addressing a news conference in Nagpur, Sharma questioned why authorities were not taking ‘bulldozer action’ against those allegedly involved. “Bulldozers are used within 24 hours in other cases. Why is there no such action against accused in this case?” he asked.Sharma alleged the investigation into the purported donation irregularities was not being conducted impartially and claimed the trust’s constitutional provisions protected its trustees from accountability. He further alleged the RSS and BJP were shielding those accused and said only a court-monitored judicial probe could ensure an independent and transparent investigation. In a sharp barb, Sharma said BJP’s ‘religion is money, not Sanatan’, adding the theft was of such a scale, ‘even Mughal invaders Mohammad Ghori and Mahmud Ghazni would be ashamed.’He claimed head of the SIT probing the matter faced cheating cases, raising questions over credibility of the probe. However, Sharma did not furnish any evidence. MLC Abhijit Wanjarri and other Cong functionaries were also present. TNN
