Chandigarh: Punjab Congress functionary Sukhpal Singh Khaira has urged world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and the Indian govt, to intervene for the “life and liberty” of jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan.In a post on X, Khaira said, “I beseech the leaders of the world to save the life and liberty of Imran Khan, ex-prime minister of Pakistan, from the clutches of a very vindictive regime.”He said Khan had contributed to sports, philanthropy and efforts to “cleanse the politics” of Pakistan. “I urge our Indian govt, our firebrand LoP Rahul Gandhi, the president of USA Donald Trump and other heads of state to rescue him like the world rescued Nelson Mandela once,” Khaira said.Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been imprisoned since 2023. He was briefly taken for a medical examination following a Supreme Court order amid concerns over his health before being returned to jail.
