Mohali: Congress leaders on Thursday filed a complaint with the Punjab State Commission for Women, seeking action against chief minister Bhagwant Mann over alleged derogatory remarks about women made during a recent public address.Kisan Congress Punjab leaders Sonia Jaiswal and Kiranjit Mitha appeared before the chairperson of the commission here and submitted a written complaint. Mehtab Singh Khaira, son of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, also appeared before the commission along with advocate Kanwar Sidhu in connection with a related matter. He informed the commission that they needed seven days to submit a detailed reply.Mehtab Khaira stated that the notice in the matter was sent to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala, seeking a status report regarding MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, but no direct notice was issued to the MLA. He said they came to present their side after learning about the notice through social media.He added they requested the commission to provide a copy of the status report sought from the Kapurthala SSP. The commission granted a week’s time to Khaira to submit his response.
