Shivamogga: Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra on Saturday termed the Congress government’s 1,000-day celebration in Haveri as “a celebration of fraud and administrative bankruptcy.” Addressing reporters at the BJP office, he alleged that the state is in severe distress, with development at a standstill and contractors struggling to survive as the govt fails to fund its own guarantee schemes. He criticised the convention as an embarrassment to the public, claiming that law and order has collapsed, prices of essential commodities continue to soar, and internal leadership conflicts remain unresolved.Citing alleged scams in the excise department, Muda, and the Valmiki Corporation, Raghavendra accused the govt of prioritising appeasement politics over governance. He said many beneficiaries have still not been paid under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, and only 60% are currently receiving Yuva Nidhi funds. He added that around 1,200 rural bus routes were cancelled and benefits under the Annabhagya scheme have not reached targeted beneficiaries. The MP further alleged that funds meant for Dalit welfare were misappropriated and highlighted that 2,819 farmers have died by suicide over the past three years, including 300 in Haveri alone. Demanding that the govt release a white paper on the state’s finances, he claimed that the govt owes Rs 37,000 crore to contractors.
