Congress leader said that 23 parties and one independent signed the letter sent to CJI Surya Kant

NEW DELHI: INDIA bloc on Tuesday sent a letter to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant over the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll by the Election Commission and other election-related issues.In a social media post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the letter was signed by the 23 opposition parties and one Independent who attended the INDIA bloc meeting on June 8.“21 political parties plus one Independent attended the INDIA Janbandhan meeting on June 8, 2026, where a decision was taken to address a joint letter to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India on the SIR process of the Election Commission of India and other election-related issues,” Ramesh said.“Accordingly, a joint letter now signed by 23 political parties plus one Independent has been sent to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India today. The opposition parties are firmly anchored in SURE—Solidarity, Unity and REsistance,” he added.Meanwhile, TMC MP Derek O’Brien said that Aam Aadmi Party and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which are no longer part of INDIA bloc, also signed the joint letter to the CJI.“Good going from INDIA. And yes, Aam Aadmi Party and DMK also DMK also signed the joint letter to CJI,” he wrote in a social media post on X.This comes days after opposition parties held a meeting on June 8 and reached a consensus on five points.At a press conference, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The INDIA alliance meeting has concluded, with 25 parties in attendance. Everyone shared their views, and subsequently, we reached a consensus on five points. We have agreed today; we will fight for these issues, work on them, and move forward.”“It was agreed to send a letter to the Chief Justice of India on SIR, vote loot and election theft. The letter is to be delivered to the Chief Justice of India very soon. Second, it was unanimously agreed to demand the immediate resignation of the education minister because he presided over the betrayal of lakhs of youth who appeared for the NEET and CBSE examinations,” he added.
