Salem/Erode: The district collector’s offices in Salem and Erode received bomb threats on Tuesday.This is the fourth such threat received this year in Salem, prompting Salem city police and bomb disposal experts to carry out intensive checks with sniffer dog Ruby.Police searched several parts of the collectorate, including rooms that had already been closed for security reasons. The offices of all departments were thoroughly checked.Officials said the Salem collector’s office has been receiving bomb threats for the past few months, mostly through email, with more than three such threats reported this year. Police said they will investigate the source of the latest threat.In a similar incident, the Erode district collector’s office also received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted and would explode by evening. Employees alerted police immediately, following which Erode south police, along with a sniffer dog team, began searches across the collectorate using metal detectors. This is the second such bomb threat received at the Erode district collector’s office this year.
