COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore district police launched a crackdown on history-sheeters on Saturday morning and rounded up 17 people for interrogation. Subsequent interrogations revealed that these individuals were involved in various criminal cases, several of which are currently pending trial.Based on their criminal profiles and active cases, six individuals were formally arrested and placed under judicial custody.The remaining 11 individuals were released with strict warnings after they signed a good conduct bond to ensure that they do not engage in further illegal activities.The Coimbatore district superintendent of police A Pavan Kumar stated that strict surveillance would continue on antisocial elements and individuals with criminal backgrounds. The department warned that similar intensive raids and monitoring operations would be conducted continuously throughout the district to ensure public safety.
