Ranchi: A routine food safety inspection at Maa Tara Misthan Bhandar on Kanke Road in Ranchi on Thursday found a cockroach at the food counter, while some food containers were also found without proper labelling. The food safety department has served a notice to the establishment, seeking a response within two days.Manoj Kumar, food safety officer (FSO) of Kanke zone, said the inspection was part of the department’s ongoing checks during the festive season. “A cockroach was found at the food counter during the inspection. We also found that some food containers did not have labels. A notice has been served, and the establishment has been given two days to respond,” he said.The department has warned that failure to provide a satisfactory response could lead to a case being registered against the establishment. Kumar said inspections of sweet shops and other food establishments would continue during the festive season to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
