Times News NetworkKanpur: Chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Kanpur Nagar, Pradeep Kumar Shukla, on Tuesday issued summons to the chief medical officer (CMO), Kanpur Nagar, in connection with an alleged death caused by negligence in medical treatment and directed that a miscellaneous case be registered against him.The court also directed the Station House Officer of Chakeri police station to serve the summons on the CMO and fixed July 20 as the next date of hearing.According to court records, Harshit Tiwari, a resident of Harjendra Nagar, had filed a complaint alleging that his mother, Manju Tiwari, died due to negligence in treatment. In his complaint, he named six persons, including four doctors, as accused in the case.During the proceedings, the court had directed the CMO to constitute an expert panel and conduct an inquiry into the allegations levelled in the complaint. However, despite the lapse of more than three months, the CMO failed to submit the inquiry report before the court.In his order, the CJM observed that the report of the expert panel had not been submitted even after the expiry of the stipulated period of over three months. Taking serious note of the delay, the court ordered registration of a miscellaneous case against the CMO in his official capacity and issued summons for his appearance.
