Gorakhpur: Over the past nine years, Gorakhpur has witnessed a phenomenal transformation in road infrastructure, with an extensive network of four-lane roads, flyovers and rail overbridges reshaping connectivity across the district. A new chapter in this transformation will be added on Jul 11 when chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurates the 11.6-km Bhathat–Basthan four-lane road project, built at a cost of Rs 689.35 crore.Once known for poor road conditions and traffic bottlenecks, the city now enjoys four-lane connectivity on all major outer routes, while a web of widened roads has improved movement within the urban area. The enhanced infrastructure has significantly eased travel and boosted industrial and commercial activity.State govt has also developed the 91-km Gorakhpur Link Expressway at a cost of Rs 7,283 crore, strengthening connectivity with Azamgarh and improving access to Lucknow. Among the major projects completed in the past year are the Gorakhnath overbridge, Bargadwa-Nakaha rail overbridge, Khazanchi Chowk flyover and several key four-lane road corridors.Meanwhile, nearly two dozen ongoing infrastructure projects include ring roads, flyovers, road widening and bridges.Officials say the improved road network has enhanced quality of life, accelerated urban growth and attracted fresh investment to the region.
