Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the 200-bedded hospital building constructed for Rs 158 crore, along with residential and hostel facilities, at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital, Chamba, on Sunday, officials said.
The hospital, also known as Chamba Medical College, comprises blocks A, B, and C, offering comprehensive facilities for patient care and medical education.
“The hospital will provide Outpatient Department (OPD) services in eight major specialities: medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry, chest and tuberculosis (TB), surgery, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology (OBG) and dental. It also houses a well-equipped casualty, radiology and operation theatre (OT) complex, along with 200 indoor beds to provide advanced healthcare services. Services in the Departments of Psychiatry, Gynaecology and Dermatology commenced immediately following the inauguration,” the chief minister said.
Sukhu said, “Strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring access to quality medical services closer to people’s homes remained a top priority of the State Government. The new hospital will enhance patient care while providing improved working and learning facilities for doctors, nursing staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals.”
He said adequate hostel and residential facilities would create a conducive environment for students, faculty and healthcare personnel, while also ensuring the institution functions efficiently.
