Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary paid homage to the martyrs by laying a floral wreath at their statues at the Shaheed Smarak where a state-level ceremony was organised in Patna on Tuesday to commemorate the supreme sacrifices of seven freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the Quit India Movement on August 11, 1942.The CM said the sacrifice and patriotism of these brave martyrs will forever remain a source of inspiration not only for Bihar but for the entire nation.The seven immortal martyrs — Umakant Prasad Singh, Ramanand Singh, Satish Prasad Jha, Jagatpati Kumar, Devipad Chaudhary, Rajendra Singh and Ram Govind Singh — were remembered with deep reverence on Martyrs’ Day.The CM joined other dignitaries in recalling the courage, patriotism and supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters who gave their lives for the country’s independence.Deputy CM Bijendra Prasad Yadav, state legislative council chairperson Awadhesh Narayan Singh, deputy Speaker of the state legislative assembly Narendra Narayan Yadav, ministers Leshi Singh, Ashok Choudhary, Sheila Kumari, Ram Kripal Yadav, JD(U) MLA Shyam Rajak and other public representatives also paid floral tributes to the martyrs.Senior govt officials, including CM’s secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Patna divisional commissioner Mayank Warvade, DM Kundan Kumar and SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, along with family members of the martyrs and other dignitaries, attended the ceremony and paid their respects.The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the immense sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle and the enduring legacy of those who gave their lives for the nation.Samrat also paid tribute to the late freedom fighter, educationist and farmer leader Guru Sahay Lal Ji on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Tuesday. He offered floral tributes at his portrait during a state-level function held at the S K Memorial Hall complex. Several dignitaries were present on the occasion. During the event, artists from the information and public relations department presented the national song, the national anthem, the Bihar state song, and patriotic songs.
