Srinagar, Sept 12: The Tourism Development Authority Gulmarg has ordered the removal of hazardous, abandoned and unsightly materials from public places across Gulmarg, citing safety concerns and the need to maintain the resort’s cleanliness and appearance.
In a circular issued on Friday, the authority directed all concerned persons, agencies and unit holders to clear such material within one week.
The order covers old and damaged signboards, bricks, stones, gravel, temporary fencing, benches, tools and equipment, broken dustbins and other structures or material that are obstructive, abandoned or pose a risk to the public.
The authority has specifically called for the Gulmarg Bowl and other public areas to be cleared and maintained in a clean, safe and aesthetically acceptable condition.
The circular also makes it clear that no material can be stored or placed in public areas without prior permission from the competent authority.
Failure to comply within the stipulated period will allow the Gulmarg Development Authority to remove the material without further notice. The cost of such removal will be recovered from the concerned person, agency or unit, while the authority will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the material during the process.
The authority has further directed its enforcement wing to prepare a complete inventory of such items within seven days and submit it for necessary action.
