Kanpur: An 18-year-old Class XII student was found hanging at his home in Baripal village under Sajeti police station on Wednesday night. Police are examining his mobile phone after finding some WhatsApp messages deleted and are investigating a possible love affair and other angles.The deceased was alone at home after his mother and sister went to Swaroop Nagar to get medicines. While returning, they called him several times regarding some work, but he did not answer. The family then asked his cousin to check on him.He reached the house around 8 pm and found the victim hanging from a ceiling fan. Hearing his screams, neighbours reached the house and informed the emergency service at 112.Police and a forensic team inspected the room and surrounding areas and collected evidence. Police seized the deceased’s mobile phone and sent his body for a postmortem examination.Sajeti police station in charge Anuj Bharti said the case appeared prima facie to be linked to a love affair. However, the family had not given any clear reason.
