Patna: An eight-year-old girl was crushed to death by a sand-laden truck while on her way to school for her half-yearly examination in Samastipur district on Tuesday morning.The accident took place around 8am near the DAV School turn on Samastipur-Musrigharari road. The deceased was identified as Shreya Kumari, a Class II student and resident of Mohli village under Sarairanjan police station area.According to her family, Shreya was travelling with her father on a scooter when she fell from the vehicle near the turn. A truck approaching from behind ran over her, killing her on the spot.A crowd stopped the truck and caught its driver before handing him over to police. Musrigharari police reached the spot and sent the body to sadar hospital for postmortem.Musrigharari SHO Rakesh Kumar said the truck had been seized, its driver apprehended and an FIR was being registered.Shreya’s uncle Rajneesh Ranjan said the family had returned early Tuesday after attending a Ganesh Chaturthi programme in their native village. Shreya then got ready for school and asked her father to drop her off.
