Guwahati: Hours after their release following an indefinite hunger strike in police detention, CJP activists launched the ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign in Assam on Monday, calling for better infrastructure and facilities in govt schools.While CJP convener Abhijeet Dipke dropped his plan to visit the state after its functionaries were released late Sunday night, the outfit stepped up its campaign, with a team led by co-convener Ashutosh Ranka visiting govt schools in Palashbari and Dispur constituencies to assess the ground realities and understand the challenges faced by students, teachers and schools.The team also comprised CJP’s northeast in-charge Ankit Bhardwaj, joint secretary Prem Akash and core coordinator Sheikh Sahil Uddin Shah, besides 30 volunteers and associates from parties including Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad. It inspected Khidirpukhuri Kaibartapara LP School, Rampur, in Palasbari and Lokhra ME School in Dispur.Ranka, Raijor Dal’s Gyanashree Bora and Rakesh Chakraborty, and Jatiya Parishad’s Pankaj Lochan Goswami allegedly faced opposition from BJP members in Rampur, leading to a heated exchange. The team alleged that the school had holes in its tin roof, no clean water and an inadequate boundary wall.The outfit said the campaign would continue with more school visits across Assam and the northeast.
