Bengaluru: Complaints on several issues including garbage collection and footpath encroachments, poured in at a public interaction presided over by Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao Thursday. He assured the complainants that at least 20% of the complaints would be resolved within 2-3 days. “We are planning to do a follow-up every month. If an issue is not resolved and the complaint is repeated, we will ask the relevant official to report on why it is not done,” he said. The GBA chief acknowledged problems related to garbage collection timings. “People unable to hand over waste to autos are throwing it. We will look at resolving this,” he said. Some residents recalled a similar initiative conducted in Dec 2024. “Though our complaint was followed up promptly with a written reply, the issue was not resolved. The mechanism of receiving and processing complaints is great, but there is no execution in many cases,” a complainant told TOI, adding that her issue from 2024 was yet to be resolved.Gayathri Ashok from New Thippasandra raised the issue of poorly maintained parks and playgrounds. “Playgrounds with no lighting are creating a security threat for nearby residents,” she said.A resident from Hombegowda Nagar highlighted the issue of uncontrolled commercialisation in Wilson Garden.
