New Delhi: Among the 19 metropolitan cities, Delhi recorded the highest number of convictions in IPC/BNS cases during 2024, with 38,661 people convicted. The city also registered the second-highest number of acquittals at 11,989 after Ahmedabad’s 15,461.The data also showed that Delhi recorded the highest number of disposed cases among metropolitan cities, with 2,76,474 cases disposed of during the year. In addition, 2,800 cases were quashed, the highest among all metropolitan cities.However, despite the high volume of disposals and convictions, Delhi reported a comparatively low chargesheeting rate of 31.9%, the lowest among all metropolitan cities.Delhi also recorded 93,068 cases pending investigation at the end of 2024, the second-highest pendency after Mumbai, which had 1,01,384 such cases. The percentage of pendency in Delhi stood at 25%, indicating a substantial backlog of cases awaiting completion of investigation or trial.
