Gurgaon: The city is likely to witness an increase in rainfall from Sunday, with heavy showers expected on Monday and Tuesday, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather office has issued a yellow alert for the city, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places in Haryana.According to IMD, the rainfall is set to intensify significantly over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh over the next six to seven days due to active monsoon conditions over northwest India.An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over north Haryana and adjoining areas as the western end of the monsoon trough remains north of its normal position. While the western disturbance has weakened over north Pakistan, its upper-level trough continues to influence weather over the region.The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall could trigger waterlogging, traffic disruptions and poor visibility in several parts of the city.Temperatures in the city remained slightly lower on Saturday. At the Gurgaon Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius, down from 36.8 degrees Celsius a day earlier, while the minimum temperature dipped marginally to 30 degrees Celsius from 30.1 degrees Celsius.At the Gurgaon AWS, the maximum temperature stood at 35.4 degrees Celsius, compared with 36.2 degrees Celsius on the previous day. The minimum temperature dropped to 27.3 degrees Celsius from 28.5 degrees Celsius.At NorthCap University, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius, down from 38 degrees Celsius.
