Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Thursday said both the state govt and citizens must act responsibly to strengthen the country’s economy, stressing that patriotism is not only about sacrificing one’s life but also about serving the nation through responsible actions.Speaking at a special programme held at the BJP Telangana state office on the seven principles proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rao said the recommendations focus on national economic self-reliance, protecting national interests and encouraging public participation.During the event, he released a poster outlining the seven key recommendations suggested by the PM for citizens.Rao said the suggestions should not be viewed politically, as they are linked to economic security and social responsibility. He underlined the importance of strengthening the domestic economy by promoting locally made products under the ‘local for vocal’ initiative.Referring to past economic challenges, Rao said former PMs Manmohan Singh and Indira Gandhi had also implemented austerity measures during difficult periods. He urged people not to criticise the PM’s suggestions without understanding their broader economic purpose.Rao added that he had recently used public transport while attending an event and noted that even senior officials in several countries follow similar practices.During the programme, Ch Krishnareddy, associate professor at the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad, presented an analysis of the seven principles, explaining the global economic challenges facing India with statistical data. The professor said the recommendations were not merely govt policies but part of a broader national economic movement that requires public participation. He added that small lifestyle changes by ordinary citizens could collectively strengthen the country’s economic power.
