Bengaluru: The Karnataka Public Transport Fare Regulatory Committee has invited suggestions and objections from the public on revising bus fares for four transport corporations — KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC.The four corporations have sought a fare hike citing rising diesel and fuel prices, higher staff salaries and increasing operating costs.The committee in a public notice has asked commuters and other affected persons to submit their views by Sept 21. Suggestions and objections can be sent to the chairperson, Karnataka Public Transport Fare Regulatory Committee, Sarige Bhavan, KSRTC Central Office, Shanti Nagar, Bengaluru – 560027, or by reaching out https://ksrtc.org/fare_revision_feedback/.The fare revision comes as the four corporations face mounting financial difficulties. Their combined liabilities stood at Rs 8,095.5 crore as of May 31, 2026. The corporations have also sought Rs 5,418.6 crore from the state govt as reimbursement for expenses incurred under the Shakti scheme. Bus fares were last increased by 15% in Jan 2025. In Bengaluru, fares for Namma Metro, BMTC buses and autos were also increased last year.
