Patna: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) will soon submit its report on the murder of Chandeshwar Choudhary at Jogiya village in Rohtas district and the violence that followed, Police Headquarters said on Wednesday. A CID team has already inspected the crime spot and launched an independent probe given the sensitivity of the case. Chandeshwar was shot dead on Aug 5.Addressing the media, ADG (law and order) K Suchita Anupam and ADG Headquarters Sunil Kumar said the CID was conducting an independent investigation and would submit its findings soon.Chandeshwar Choudhary (55) was allegedly shot dead by Ajit Tiwari and his son Chingari Tiwari around 6.30am on August 5 over an old enmity. Police said the accused later dumped the body in the Innerpur canal under Sikraul police station area in neighbouring Buxar district.The murder triggered unrest, with angry villagers and anti-social elements setting the accused’s house, tractor and harvester on fire. A police team that reached the spot was allegedly attacked with bricks and stones, leaving eight to 10 personnel injured.Rohtas SP rushed to the village and brought the situation under control. Police arrested the main accused, Ajit Tiwari, and his son Chingari Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district within five hours of the incident. During searches, police recovered 21 live cartridges and five empty shells from the accused’s house. Chandeshwar’s body was recovered from the canal on August 6.To ensure a fair probe, a special investigation team has been constituted under CID DIG Jayant Kant, with SPs Alok and Ramanand Kaushal as members. The team inspected both the murder site and the location where arson took place.During the investigation, police found that Chandeshwar and Ajit had known each other for years. Chandeshwar had worked as a labourer at Ajit’s place before leaving the job around two years ago, officers said.Three separate cases were registered at Dinara police station on August 5 and 6. A murder and Arms Act case was lodged against Ajit Tiwari and five others on the statement of the deceased’s wife. Another case related to the attack on the police team was registered against 16 named persons and 300-400 unidentified people. A third case, related to arson and vandalism, was lodged on the complaint of the accused’s wife against 16 named persons and 300-400 unidentified accused.“To maintain law and order, adequate police force and magistrates have been deployed in Milki village, where the victim lived, and Jogiya village, where the accused reside,” the ADG said.Police said strict action was being taken against those spreading rumours and posting communal content on social media. Around 600 such posts have been taken down so far, while Rohtas cyber police station has registered an FIR against one person.
