Chandigarh: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday hit back at Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s foreign tours, saying Mann himself frequently travels abroad.Calling Mann’s remarks “the height of hypocrisy”, Chugh said, “A chief minister who himself travels abroad with a minister currently in ED remand in a money laundering case and an OSD accused of harassing a woman MP has no moral right to question the Prime Minister.”Mann on Saturday had remarked that “the Prime Minister is roaming abroad while giving lessons on savings to people of the country”.Defending Modi’s overseas visits, Chugh said the PM’s visit to the Netherlands was aimed at securing India’s technological and economic interests, including a semiconductor deal involving the Tata Group and ASML.“This is the same vision that brought Punjab a semiconductor plant in Mohali, opening new employment opportunities for the youth,” he said.Chugh further alleged that while Modi’s foreign visits attracted investment and jobs, Mann’s trips had yielded “nothing for Punjab”.“Mann should tell people how much investment and how many jobs his foreign tours brought to Punjab,” he added.
