Chatra: Twenty passengers of a multi-utility vehicle, including women and children, were injured after the vehicle overturned under Chatra Sadar police station limits on Wednesday. Six of the passengers remained in a critical condition. As many as 30 persons, who hailed from Jori and Itkhori areas under Vashishtnagar police station limits, were returning to their homes in the vehicle after attending a birth ceremony at Tutilawa village under Simaria block of the district. The incident took place near Japut village around 8:45 am.“The driver lost control while attempting to steer clear a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction,” Rajendra Bharti, one of the passengers, said. The vehicle swerved and overturned, injuring its passengers.On receiving information, Pahra panchayat mukhiya Baby Devi and Sadar police station officer-in-charge Purushottam Agnihotri reached the spot with their teams to rescue them. “The injured were sent to Chatra Sadar Hospital from where six were referred to Hazaribag for better treatment. Further investigation is underway,” Agnihotri said.
