Move over, youngsters. This 77-year-old Indian grandpa is busy using ChatGPT to plan his next business idea, and the internet can’t get enough of his adorable politeness.VBR Prasad was travelling on an IndiGo flight when a younger passenger sitting nearby noticed what he was doing before takeoff. Prasad was busy chatting with ChatGPT about a vertical farming business. But it wasn’t just the business plan that caught the passenger’s attention. It was the way Prasad was talking to the AI.“He calls the AI ‘sir’. The respect!!” the passenger, who goes by “teknosaur” on X, wrote while sharing a picture of Prasad and his ChatGPT conversation.
Grandpa calls ChatGPT ‘sir’
The messages showed Prasad addressing ChatGPT as “sir” not once, but three times in just three sentences. And while most of us have probably sent AI a rather blunt “write this” or “make this better”, Prasad’s messages were noticeably more courteous. He was using ChatGPT to work on his idea for a vertical farming business, asking the AI to help him shape and refine the plan. The young passenger was clearly impressed. “This man is more locked in than all of us,” he wrote. The post soon took off on X, crossing 3 million views, with people praising the 77-year-old for staying curious, productive and, of course, exceptionally polite to his AI assistant.
Prasad reacts to the viral post
As the post continued to spread, Prasad himself joined the conversation.“Oh, I am just thrilled to read few of the wonderful responses. Yes, I felt very happy as Mr Snehan has put me to this popularity,” he wrote. He also added a light-hearted line: “Someone said Indians are married to ‘Yes’. True. Thank you all.”But Prasad had a more thoughtful message to share too. For him, AI isn’t simply about getting quick answers. It’s about how we choose to use it.“It’s all in our hands to use the AI for betterment of our lives,” the Hyderabad-based man wrote.
The internet has fallen for his politeness
The post has since turned into a wholesome little corner of the internet, with users applauding Prasad’s attitude towards technology.“Hello uncle, thank you for being so kind naturally. Inspiring,” one person wrote.Another joked that his politeness might just save him from a future AI takeover. And someone else pointed out the sweetest detail of all: “ChatGPT calling him ‘sir’ right back is the best part.”From working on a business idea at 77 to experimenting with AI on a flight, Prasad has clearly shown that curiosity doesn’t come with an age limit. And yes, apparently good manners apply to ChatGPT too.
