Calling it” unfortunate “, West Bengal Chief Minister condemned and protested, saying such an incident was never seen before during his long tenure as a member of the Legislative assembly.
After cautioning Ghosh for several times, Speaker Rathindra Bose directed marshals to remove Ghosh from the House. He was escorted out by the marshals amid strong protests.
Ghosh left his seat and stood in front of the opposition member’s microphone, raising slogans and preventing him from speaking during the budget discussion on the Home and Hill Affairs Department.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and many BJP MLAs protested Ghosh’s behaviour.
Ghosh alleged that he was not given opportunity to speak while Akhruzzaman later told media persons that he is chief whip of Trinamool and there are 80 MLAs and he cannot give chance to everyone.
Later, the Speaker suspended Ghosh from the House for the remainder of the day for disrupting the proceedings.Ghosh claimed that he was protesting because his name had been removed from the list of speakers for the debate by the opposition chief whip.
Ghosh claimed that his name was initially on the list of members scheduled to participate in the discussion on the budgetary demands of the Home and Hill Affairs Department, but was subsequently struck off.
The disruption is also fallout of ongoing conflict between Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool and LoP Ritabrat Banerjee-led Trinamool in the House proceedings and forcing the Speaker to intervene.
Proceedings resumed after Ghosh was removed from the House.
Tapas Roy, senior MLA, moved a motion to suspend Kunal Ghosh for the rest of the session. However, CM requested Bose to suspend Ghosh for the day.
