Shivamogga: Shivamogga MLA SN Channabasappa, who contested on a BJP ticket in the last assembly election after former DCM KS Eshwarappa stepped aside, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the recent political activities of the Rashtrabhaktara Balaga, led by Eshwarappa.Speaking to reporters at the BJP office in Shivamogga on Thursday, Channabasappa said there appears to be a significant shift in the organisation’s direction. He noted that there is a marked difference between the objectives with which the Rashtrabhaktara Balaga was originally formed and the activities it is currently undertaking in Shivamogga.“It is becoming increasingly evident that attempts are being made to defeat the BJP in Shivamogga. Everyone must reflect on the fact that this threat is not coming from the Congress,” Channabasappa said. He expressed disappointment that such developments were emerging from a veteran right-wing leader like Eshwarappa.While acknowledging that several active BJP workers are associated with the Rashtrabhaktara Balaga, the MLA clarified that the party has no objection to anyone contesting elections democratically in the future. “We have no objection if you choose to contest elections in the future. However, creating unnecessary political confusion and friction is unacceptable. We certainly did not expect this level of destabilisation from Eshwarappa,” he said.Reiterating the saffron party’s ideological commitment, Channabasappa said the BJP continues to work for the protection and promotion of Hindutva. He warned that BJP workers and supporters would not remain silent if anyone sought political growth solely with the objective of defeating the party.Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects, he said an NDA-led govt would be formed in the state after the 2028 assembly elections.
