Guwahati: Security forces said an ambush plan targeting troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district has been busted with the arrest of two suspected Ulfa-I cadres and the recovery of an AK-series rifle, an IED and a cache of arms and ammunition.Officials said that around 20 suspected militants from Ulfa-I and the NSCN (K-YA) faction were planning to strike security forces in the area before the plot was busted. The two arrested cadres were identified as Sahadev Rai alias Bappi Asom and Siraj Asom alias Siraju Alam.Following the arrests and the weapons haul, Assam Rifles, in coordination with other security agencies, launched a search operation to track down the remaining militants and rule out further threats. The operation was underway, with heightened vigilance maintained across the area. The foiled plot comes close on the heels of an ambush on an Assam Rifles patrol near Nampong in the same district, jointly claimed by NSCN (K-YA) and the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the Meitei insurgent outfit PLA, on Tuesday, in which Hav Jangkhokai Kuki was killed and four others were injured.
