State govt gave the status of state minister to the chairpersons of 54 state-run boards and corporations Saturday. Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail, chairman of the Karnataka State Marketing Communication & Advertising Ltd; Ron MLA GS Patil, chairman of the Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Ltd; and Madhusudhan R Naik, chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, were among notable persons who received the rank of state minister. BJP to start candidate selection for GBA pollsThe state BJP has decided to begin identifying candidates for the upcoming GBA elections, targeting victories in all five city corporations. State president BY Vijayendra said the party was fully prepared and discussions would be held with JD(S) functionaries on candidate selection. Separate meetings for the five corporations are scheduled on Feb 28 and March 1 to gather inputs from local party workers. Vijayendra criticised the Congress govt over civic issues like potholes and garbage management and said the party would highlight the state govt’s failures during its outreach. The meeting was attended by BJP leaders including Ram Madhav, Satish Poonia, Sanjay Upadhyay, BS Yediyurappa, R Ashoka and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy.
