Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will conduct “CET Seat Allotment Manthana” workshops across 65 govt engineering, medical and dental colleges in the state from May 25 to 30 to create awareness about the counselling and seat allotment process for professional courses.Announcing the initiative, KEA executive director H Prasanna said the workshops are aimed at helping students and parents avoid common mistakes during option entry and counselling, which often result in candidates losing seats in their preferred colleges despite securing good ranks.Except on May 28, two sessions will be held daily — from 10am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 4pm by trained resource persons from KEA.Students and parents interested in attending the workshops must book slots in advance through the KEA website. A dedicated link has been provided on the portal to select the preferred college and session timing.Prasanna said errors during option entry, including mistakes made at cyber centres and lack of awareness among candidates and parents, had led to several students missing out on desired seats in previous years. The workshop initiative, first introduced last year, received a positive response and has now been expanded and is being organised more systematically, he added.During the sessions, participants will be guided on various aspects of the counselling process, including option entry, seat allotment procedures, acceptance of allotted seats, choices available for students seeking better colleges in subsequent rounds, fee payment and related formalities.KEA also clarified that students currently preparing for the NEET examination need not attend the programme personally. Parents, if required, may participate on their behalf to understand the admission process.
