Prayagraj: Congress Working Committee member and former MP minister Kamleshwar Patel on Sunday said the Centre should implement the caste census only after addressing discrepancies in the existing data.Speaking to the media, Patel said Modi govt had itself pointed to flaws in the 2011 census data.“Social justice and national development can be achieved only when all sections of society, particularly SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities and the general category, receive adequate representation in social, economic, educational and administrative spheres,” he said.Patel advocated conducting the caste census on the lines of the model adopted by Telangana govt. He alleged that current govt was focused on “making money and dividing society”.Condemning the demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur early on Saturday, Patel claimed that such issues were being deliberately raised to foster division and hatred in society.He also expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc would win the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, stating that people were distressed by inflation, unemployment and policies he described as anti-farmer and anti-people.Among those present were Kishore Varshney, Ashok Patel, Harikesh Tripathi and other party leaders.
