T’puram: The Union govt has sanctioned an additional Rs 45.62 crore for the development of Sivagiri pilgrimage circuit under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.The circuit, covering Sivagiri, Chempazhanthy, Aruvippuram and Kunnumpuram, was sanctioned in 2019 under Swadesh Darshan 1.0 for an estimated Rs 66.69 crore. The project is currently being implemented.The additional allocation follows a special request from the Sivagiri Mutt and will be used to develop a tourism facilitation centre, an audio-visual show, a community dining hall, lighting and landscaping, among other facilities.The Sivagiri Mutt welcomed the Centre’s decision and expressed gratitude to all those who had worked towards the development of the pilgrimage circuit.
