KALYAN: The Central Railway’s Vigilance and the RPF CIB team arrested a total of 10 people, including the private contractor’s staff and Central Railway staff, for taking more than the prescribed limit of scrap located in the Kalyan Railway Yard area. According to Central Railway sources, the railway issued a tender to sell the scrap located in the yard, under which the contractor takes the scrap material for sale.Sources said that the Railway Vigilance team received information that the contractor’s staff were taking more scrap and showing its weight as less on paper, with some railway employees also involved. A Central Railway official said that based on source information, a joint check was conducted by the Central Railway Vigilance and the RPF CIB team concerning an ongoing scrap delivery at the office of Kalyan. The delivery of the scrap lot was to be carried out using two vehicles. On Monday, they arrested 10 people.A senior RPF official assisting the Vigilance team in the raid said, “The Vigilance team is now investigating how much the contractor staff cheated the Railways with the connivance of these railway employees.” The investigator is also checking if other staff are involved in the fraudulent act.
