Nagpur: A collision between a cement mixer vehicle and an Army truck disrupted traffic flow on the busy Nagpur-Chandrapur highway around 2.30pm on Thursday near Mohgaon Phata under Buti Bori police jurisdiction. Both vehicles were travelling from Nagpur towards Chandrapur.According to preliminary information received by the police, the Army truck just exited the DRDO camp at Mohgaon and entered the main highway when the speeding cement mixer truck approached from behind at high speed and rammed it.The collision substantially damaged the Army truck, leading to immediate blockage of a portion of the carriageway. This resulted in massive traffic snarls, with long queues of vehicles stretching in both directions and severe congestion lasting several hours.Personnel from Buti Bori police of Nagpur rural cleared the traffic, and deployed a Hydra crane to remove the damaged Army truck from the road. Normal traffic movement was restored soon and police sources confirmed that the snarl was completely cleared. No casualties and no serious injuries were reported in the accident, said police.No criminal FIR was registered in the case. The incident was recorded as a routine road accident in the CCTNS system for official purposes. An investigation was initiated to ascertain the exact cause.
