Led by NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar, the activists gathered near Gate 7 of the metro station to shout slogans against the CEC. A statement from the student organization noted that Jakhar was detained alongside hundreds of other demonstrators. In response to the gathering, heavy police presence was established in Connaught Place, which sits adjacent to Jantar Mantar.
Jakhar asserted that police detentions would not suppress their call for accountability from the Election Commission, accusing officials of deploying force to quash peaceful assembly.

NSUI national media in-charge Ravi Hanuman Pandey condemned the detentions, saying the organisation’s movement against “vote chori” would only intensify until Kumar resigned.
The group reiterated its commitment to demanding transparency and fairness in elections using peaceful, democratic methods.
Earlier that day, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were also taken into custody upon arriving at Jantar Mantar, despite extensive barricades and tight security. These incidents occurred shortly after Delhi Police officially revoked Jantar Mantar’s status as an authorized protest venue.
