Patna: Chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will arrive in Bihar on Aug 16 for a two-day visit during which he will launch Electoral Literacy Club 2.0 from Patna.The upgraded initiative will be launched at a conference on Electoral Literacy Club 2.0 and ECINET at Gyan Bhavan on Aug 17. The first phase was launched in 2018 under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.Thousands of students, teachers, vice-chancellors, principals and heads of institutions from more than 400 schools, colleges and universities are expected to attend the conference. Senior Election Commission officials and Bihar’s chief secretary, development commissioner, additional chief secretary, principal secretary and secretaries of the education, health, science and technology, and technical education departments will also attend.Earlier on Aug 17, Kumar will interact with 500 booth level officers at Nalanda University in Rajgir to discuss their experiences and ground-level challenges.The delegation will include deputy election commissioner Manish Garg, director general (media) Ashish Goyal and director general (IT) Seema Khanna. Kumar will also visit Sitamarhi, Madhubani and Vaishali and meet district election officials.
