Ranchi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday has arrested a superintendent and an inspector of Goods and Services Taxes from Giridih in a bribery case. It was alleged that the accused superintendent Budheshwar Sundi and inspector Virju Kimar had demanded undue advantage of Rs 90,000 from a complainant for resolving his input tax credit mismatch and threatened him to block his GST number if he did not pay the bribe amount. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe as part payment from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused persons, CBI said in a statement.
Do you believe that bribery is a widespread issue in tax departments?
