Ahmedabad: The health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has stepped up efforts to curb mosquito-borne diseases ahead of the monsoon season. Between Jan and May 2026, the city recorded 6,578 online complaints related to mosquito breeding. Of these, 3,296 complaints were reported from the western area and 3,282 from the eastern area over the past five months. Guwahati: A retired Assam Police Service (APS) officer died after being assaulted by his neighbour following a minor dispute in the Ghoramara area under Basistha Police Station in Guwahati. Pune: A fine arts teacher working with a private school was found dead in her Keshavnagar flat on Saturday night. Preliminary investigations suggest she died by suicide.Senior inspector Smita Wasnik of Mundhwa police station told TOI, “We recovered a note from the flat, purportedly written by the deceased, which stated, ‘I am unable to live an ideal life.’”According to the police, the teacher lived alone. Rohtak: The Haryana Board of School Education on Sunday announced that the Haryana Teachers’ Eligibility Test (HTET) will be held on June 13 and 14. Around 2.4 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam, which will be conducted at nearly 820 centres across the state.Addressing a press conference in Bhiwani, board chairman Pawan Kumar said the board has also planned strict security arrangements at all centres to prevent malpractice and ensure a peaceful examination process.
