Ranchi supply circle achieved 97.57% billing coverage in July Ranchi: Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) recorded its highest-ever billing efficiency in July, issuing electricity bills to 96.59% of its consumers, up 1.59 percentage points from the previous record of 95 in June.According to the discom’s data, bills were generated for 5,413,542 of the 5,604,917 registered consumers across the state. Hazaribag, Koderma, Ramgarh, Jamshedpur and Ranchi emerged as the five best-performing supply circles.Hazaribag topped the state with billing coverage of 99.26%, followed by Koderma at 99.13% and Ramgarh at 98.48%. Vadodara: Two men who allegedly escaped from police custody in the city 11 years ago have been re-arrested by the Crime Branch. The duo was accused of circulating counterfeit currency and a complaint was registered against them at Jawahar Nagar police station.The accused, Mohammed Haq and Mohammed Narul Sheikh, both hailing from West Bengal, were arrested in 2015. Haq escaped from police custody after allegedly pushing a guard on duty while they were being taken to West Bengal for investigations. Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the newly widened and strengthened Green City–Madhopur Bundh Road in Gorakhpur on Tuesday morning. The nearly two-kilometre road has been developed at rS 69.58 crore.The inauguration ceremony will be held near the National Highway junction. MUMBAI: Cracking down on “dazzling lights” on vehicles, Mumbai Traffic Police penalised 1,194 motorists as part of a special drive recently. Fines up to Rs 7.5 lakh were issued in this drive between Aug 6 and 8.Police said flashing lights, LED bars, fancy or harsh headlights were used by some vehicles at night, which impacted the vision of other road users and could lead to serious crashes. The action was taken under provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules.Police have warned that action will continue in future and motorists should use low-beam lights at night. New Delhi: In the wake of some biometric attendance systems being “deliberately” damaged, Delhi govt’s social welfare department has ordered installation of CCTV cameras at its offices to keep the devices under surveillance and identify those responsible. The decision was taken during a recent review meeting.An official said that they had been receiving complaints about the devices frequently becoming non-functional.
